We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as Southwest Africa from the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884-1915 is a play by Jackie Sibblies Drury. The play centers on a group of actors, attempting to put on a play/presentation about the Herero tribe and the German occupation of their homeland, Namibia, a country in Africa. It follows the actors' process of creating the show, as well as the actual performance. Jackie Sibblies Drury, a female African American Playwright, brings new perspectives that people are calling for, as well as tackling the issues of race and representation, whether it be directly or indirectly, in her plays. She is a Brooklyn-based playwright and graduated from Brown University with a M.F.A. in playwriting. With her plays, Drury has won the Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award, the Lark Jerome New York Fellowship, and Windham Campbell Prize, while also becoming a New Dramatists Van Lier Fellow and a New York Theatre Workshop Emerging Artist of Color Fellow.
